Comedy Night with Christine Hurley & Guests

Comedy Night at Slater’s featuring Christine Hurley plus special guests Gary James and Ryan Gartley   Samuel Slater’s Hall │ Friday, October 18, 2024 │ Doors 6:30 PM / Show 7:30 PM   21+ Event / Valid ID Required   Christine Hurley loves what she does…making people laugh! Married to Jimmy Hurley and having five kids, Christine is never at a loss for comedic material. Like any great comedian, Christine has an innate ability to see humor in “everyday” situations. For years, she entertained family, friends and neighbors in their kitchens, at barbeques and the grocery store aisles. The only difference now is she uses a microphone and a stage.   Christine’s maiden voyage into the world of stand up comedy was an open audition in New York City. The television network Nick at Nite was looking for “AMERICA’S FUNNIEST MOM.” She figured if it didn’t go well, no one in New York would have known who she was anyway…   Turns out it went well! Out of thousands of entries, Christine was selected to be a finalist on the nationally televised show. The producers of the show included Carol Leifer (Seinfeld show producer), Jeff Singer (talent scout, Montreal Comedy Festival), Jeffrey Ross (Comedy Central roast master) and actress Sandra Bernhardt.   Gary James is on the horizon of a new comedy frontier. Named 2016 Best Comedian by Boston Magazine, this absurd realist takes his curiosity and applies it to the wide world of weird. Accomplishments: The Great American Comedy Festival, Best Comedian by Boston Magazine, 2016 Riot LA’s comics to watch. Petersen is blazing a trail of tomfoolery and now is the time to watch a hero rise from the ashes of comedy ruins.    With nearly 500 shows of experience, Ryan Gartley has performed everywhere from Las Vegas to Bangor. He was featured on the internationally syndicated Steve Katsos Show and was a semi-finalist in the Portland and Boston Comedy Festivals. His critical observations and dry humor have earned him opening spots for national headliners Lenny Clarke, Jeff Dunham, Steven Wright, and Dave Coulier.

Whether he’s riffing on relationships, kids, or the everyday grind, Mike’s relatable chaos keeps audiences howling start to finish. Featured on CBS’s Funniest Comedians in Boston, The Today Show, Good Morning America, and heard on SiriusXM, Mike’s viral YouTube clip with over 24 million views proves he’s anything but typical. A former “Funniest Person on Campus” at UCONN, he’s gone on to headline top venues including Mohegan Sun, Foxwoods, Catch a Rising Star, Nick’s Comedy Stop, Giggles, and The Golden Nugget. Her special Wit Happens is streaming on Prime Video, and her albums can be heard on SiriusXM.   Some comics rely on the monumental events of the day or the faux pas of the rich and famous. Not Carolyn Plummer. Carolyn pulls material from the hum-drum, day-to-day monotony of the life of everyman; and she does it well. To Carolyn the monumental is easy… it’s our existence that’s so hard, yet so ridiculous. Some women look in the mirror and complain that they aren’t pretty enough, not rich enough, not young enough. Carolyn gives her reflection the finger. Andrea Henry has appeared on Nickelodeon’s Search for America’s Funniest Mom, Last Comic Standing and The Great Canadian Laugh Off, and has participated in comedy fests across the country Limestone, Maine, Boston, Women in Comedy, Chicago Woman’s Funny Festival, Rogue Island and Memphis Urban Laughs. She’s written jokes for Us Weekly Magazine’s Fashion Police and is the co-author of Real Kids Jokes by Real Stand-Up Comics.

Jimmy’s first major television role was as Sean McCarthy on the CBS sitcom, THE MCCARTHYS. In 2019 Rodrigues made his late-night TV debut on the Conan O’Brien show. In 2020 he released another 30-minute Comedy Special for the EPIX series “Unprotected Sets.” His comedy is honest and fun, constantly peppering in stories from his life and the lives of those around him. Mix that with a hilarious point of view and he’s able to talk about just about anything.   Boston’s James Dorsey is an insurance salesman by day and comedian by night! After receiving his first D-minus for conduct in the second grade, Dorsey said he realized school was not his cup of tea and took his “disruptive in class” trademark to the stand-up stage and never looked back. He shares life experiences through high energy, witty acting-out, and playful facial expressions. His use of imitations and characters is incredibly vivid and entertaining. Dorsey was the national winner of the Catch a New Rising Star competition, as well as the Plymouth Rock Comedy Festival and has performed at the prestigious Boston Comedy Festival. His performance on stage has been described as “Flawless, smooth and original. A born professional.” He has shared the stage with Joe Rogan, Bryan Callen, Jerry Seinfeld, Patrice O’Neal, Jim Gaffigan, Michael Ian Black, Gilbert Gottfried, and Steven Wright. Comedy Night at Slater’s with Steve Sweeney & Guests

Comedy Night at Slater’s featuring Steve Sweeney with special guest Howie Mason and host Jack Burke   Samuel Slater’s Hall │ Friday, March 13, 2026 │ Doors 6:30 PM / Show 7:30 PM   21+ Event / Valid ID Required │ This event is non-refundable   Dubbed by one admirer as “the undisputed King of Boston comedy,” Steve Sweeney doesn’t just perform in Boston—he is Boston. A true original of the Boston stand-up explosion, Sweeney came up alongside Lenny Clarke and Jay Leno at the legendary Ding Ho in the early 1970s—ground zero for a comedy movement that would shape the city’s voice for decades. He was among the first Boston comics to break into television with a starring role on Park Street Under, and went on to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and Late Show with David Letterman. In Boston, he became a household voice as a beloved morning radio host on WZLX 100.7 FM. Over a thirty-year career of stand-up tours, sitcom roles, film appearances, and radio, Sweeney’s comedy has traveled far. But no matter where he goes, it remains so thoroughly, unmistakably Bostonian that he almost deserves his own stop on the map.   Most of the “weird” things that happen to Howie Mason happen within the family unit. Those weird things and the family offer up a “nice mix of material” for his audience. Howie has brought his clever brand of humor to clubs and casinos all over the Northeast. Howie’s distinctive views on everyday topics such as marriage, parenthood and childhood have made him a crowd favorite all over New England.   A Boston-based comic, Jack Burke has rapidly emerged as a fresh voice of New England’s storied comedy circuit. He charms comics and audience members alike with his confessional style and irreverent takes on sobriety, intimacy, and family life. He is a staple of independently produced shows and clubs like the world renowned Laugh Boston and Nicks. Jack’s made terrible mistakes everywhere from Portland, ME to Jamaica that will make you laugh and feel grateful you’re not related to him.

Aquanett

Aquanett Samuel Slater’s Hall │ Saturday, September 28, 2024 │ Doors 7:30 PM / Show 8:00 PM   21+ Event / Valid ID Required While the Aquanett experience is anchored by the sound of the 80s metal bands like Bon Jovi and Whitesnake, don’t expect a run-of-the-mill club band that just sits in the corner. Quite the opposite- this is one of the most decadent and colorful tribute acts today. Imagine Hollywood…the Sunset Strip…when bands like Motley Crue and GnF ruled the world, This is the scene Aquanett re-creates night after night. With a complement of lights, special effects and costumes, the full production of an 80s rock concert is brought to life on stage. It is wild, flashy and full of the decadence that marked the 80s rock. It’s the sound, the clothes, and of course, the hair…but most of all, it’s pure fun. Seeing is believing, but you know that Aquanett is truly an experience, unlike anything you have seen before…or at least since 1991!
