He was the winner of The Catch a New Rising Star, The Funniest Comic in New England and the 2017 Big Sky Comedy Festivals. Rodrigues has been featured on the hilarious Gotham Live, Laughs on Fox and True Tv’s Laff Mobbs Laff Tracks. In 2018 he released his Dry Bar comedy special, was voted “best of the fest” at the Big Pine Comedy Festival and was picked as one of TBS’s Comics to Watch at the New York Comedy Fest. In 2019 Rodrigues made his late-night TV debut on the Conan O’Brien show. In 2020 he released another 30-minute Comedy Special for the EPIX series “Unprotected Sets.” His comedy is honest and fun, constantly peppering in stories from his life and the lives of those around him. Mix that with a hilarious point of view and he’s able to talk about just about anything. Boston’s James Dorsey is an insurance salesman by day and comedian by night! After receiving his first D-minus for conduct in the second grade, Dorsey said he realized school was not his cup of tea and took his “disruptive in class” trademark to the stand-up stage and never looked back. He shares life experiences through high energy, witty acting-out, and playful facial expressions. His use of imitations and characters is incredibly vivid and entertaining. Dorsey was the national winner of the Catch a New Rising Star competition, as well as the Plymouth Rock Comedy Festival and has performed at the prestigious Boston Comedy Festival. His performance on stage has been described as “Flawless, smooth and original. A born professional.” He has shared the stage with Joe Rogan, Bryan Callen, Jerry Seinfeld, Patrice O’Neal, Jim Gaffigan, Michael Ian Black, Gilbert Gottfried, and Steven Wright. Dorsey can be seen in every major comedy club in New England and will remain in your head and heart long after he has made his exit from the stage. Alex Giampapa began performing stand-up comedy in Boston at the age of 19 and soon became a popular act all across New England. He’s performed with comedians like Bill Burr, Hannibal Buress, Ilana Glaser, Sarah Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Gary Gulman, Adam Devine and Erik Griffin. Alex headlines shows nationwide, and has been featured in many comedy festivals including The Rogue Island Comedy Festival (Newport, RI), The Big Pine Comedy Festival (Flagstaff, AZ), The Boston Comedy Festival, and The Motor City Comedy Festival (Detroit, MI).
Comedy Night with Kelly MacFarland & Guests
Comedy Night at Slater’s featuring Kelly MacFarland with Mother/Daughter Comedy Duo Kathe and Jesse Farris Samuel Slater’s Hall │ Friday, January 17, 2025 │ Doors 6:30 PM / Show 7:30 PM 21+ Event / Valid ID Required With a career spanning over two decades, Kelly MacFarland’s talent knows no bounds. Her infectious charm has captivated audience nationwide and has earned her the coveted title of Best of the Fest at the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival and the first runner up in the prestigious Boston Comedy Festival. Two albums available on iTunes, Amazon, and SiriusXM radio, featured performer at renowned events like the Oddball Comedy Festival, the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, National Comedy Center, and the Boston Women in Comedy Festival since its inception. Kelly has even graced television, with appearances on Stand Up in Stilettos, The Today Show, The View, and more. Her talent has been recognized with honors like first place in the professional category of the 2016 Ladies of Laughter. And to top it all off, Kelly graced the incredible lineup of Comics Come Home 25 in 2019, solidifying her status as a comedic legend. Kathe Farris is a Boston-based stay-at-home mom, stand-up comedian, and snack cake enthusiast. She hit the comedy scene a little late in life with a different point of view and killer material. After becoming a Comic-in-Residence at The Comedy Studio and a finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival, she recently recorded her national debut with a Dry Bar Comedy Special. With an eye for detail and an understated edge that speaks to grandparents and frat bros alike, Kathe performs regularly at everything from corporate events to a basement show full of crust punks (one time, went great). Her weekly show, Farris and Friends Comedy Hour, even became “The Boston Globe’s Critics Choice.” They didn’t give her a plaque so she made one. She’ll show you later. Shut-in by day, lukewarm comedian by night, Jesse Farris has been performing stand-up comedy around Boston since the age of seventeen. Having recently moved back to town with a Master’s in English Literature and few prospects on the job market, she’s relying on her humor to stay financially afloat. Her sharp, “off-kilter” wit has been known to delight audiences and concern doctors everywhere (she never quite healed from that second concussion). Some of the stages she’s been on include The Rockwell, The Comedy Studio, and The Rex Theatre.
Comedy Night with Christine Hurley & Guests
Comedy Night at Slater’s featuring Christine Hurley plus special guests Gary James and Ryan Gartley Samuel Slater’s Hall │ Friday, October 18, 2024 │ Doors 6:30 PM / Show 7:30 PM 21+ Event / Valid ID Required Christine Hurley loves what she does…making people laugh! Married to Jimmy Hurley and having five kids, Christine is never at a loss for comedic material. Like any great comedian, Christine has an innate ability to see humor in “everyday” situations. For years, she entertained family, friends and neighbors in their kitchens, at barbeques and the grocery store aisles. The only difference now is she uses a microphone and a stage. Christine’s maiden voyage into the world of stand up comedy was an open audition in New York City. The television network Nick at Nite was looking for “AMERICA’S FUNNIEST MOM.” She figured if it didn’t go well, no one in New York would have known who she was anyway… Turns out it went well! Out of thousands of entries, Christine was selected to be a finalist on the nationally televised show. The producers of the show included Carol Leifer (Seinfeld show producer), Jeff Singer (talent scout, Montreal Comedy Festival), Jeffrey Ross (Comedy Central roast master) and actress Sandra Bernhardt. Gary James is on the horizon of a new comedy frontier. Named 2016 Best Comedian by Boston Magazine, this absurd realist takes his curiosity and applies it to the wide world of weird. Accomplishments: The Great American Comedy Festival, Best Comedian by Boston Magazine, 2016 Riot LA’s comics to watch. Petersen is blazing a trail of tomfoolery and now is the time to watch a hero rise from the ashes of comedy ruins. With nearly 500 shows of experience, Ryan Gartley has performed everywhere from Las Vegas to Bangor. He was featured on the internationally syndicated Steve Katsos Show and was a semi-finalist in the Portland and Boston Comedy Festivals. His critical observations and dry humor have earned him opening spots for national headliners Lenny Clarke, Jeff Dunham, Steven Wright, and Dave Coulier.
Aquanett
Aquanett Samuel Slater’s Hall │ Saturday, September 28, 2024 │ Doors 7:30 PM / Show 8:00 PM 21+ Event / Valid ID Required While the Aquanett experience is anchored by the sound of the 80s metal bands like Bon Jovi and Whitesnake, don’t expect a run-of-the-mill club band that just sits in the corner. Quite the opposite- this is one of the most decadent and colorful tribute acts today. Imagine Hollywood…the Sunset Strip…when bands like Motley Crue and GnF ruled the world, This is the scene Aquanett re-creates night after night. With a complement of lights, special effects and costumes, the full production of an 80s rock concert is brought to life on stage. It is wild, flashy and full of the decadence that marked the 80s rock. It’s the sound, the clothes, and of course, the hair…but most of all, it’s pure fun. Seeing is believing, but you know that Aquanett is truly an experience, unlike anything you have seen before…or at least since 1991!

Tony was working his way toward a Masters degree in social work having graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a B. S. in Psychology. It was not long after that he took to the stage himself. Spending time in New York and L. A. paid off with multiple highly acclaimed appearances on Late Night w/ Conan O’Brien, Comedy Central’s Tough Crowd w/ Colin Quinn and several sit-coms including Seinfeld, Boston Common, The Single Guy and Dr. Katz Professional Therapist.
