Comedy Night at Slater’s with Kelly MacFarland & Guests

Comedy Night at Slater’s featuring Kelly MacFarland with special guest Carolyn Plummer and host Andrea Henry Samuel Slater’s Hall │ Friday, December 19, 2025 │ Doors 6:30 PM / Show 7:30 PM 21+ Event / Valid ID Required │ This event is non-refundable Kelly MacFarland is a magnetic stand-up comedian, writer, and actress with bold, hilarious, and unexpectedly heartfelt comedy. Her best-friend energy and relatable stories about love, loss, and everything in between make her a favorite for smart, fun audiences. Kelly has appeared on Comedy Central, NBC’s Last Comic Standing, the Today Show, AXS Gotham Comedy LIVE, Dry Bar Comedy, Don’t Tell Comedy, and Comics Come Home at TD Garden. Her special Wit Happens is streaming on Prime Video, and her albums can be heard on SiriusXM.   Some comics rely on the monumental events of the day or the faux pas of the rich and famous. Not Carolyn Plummer. Carolyn pulls material from the hum-drum, day-to-day monotony of the life of everyman; and she does it well. To Carolyn the monumental is easy… it’s our existence that’s so hard, yet so ridiculous. Some women look in the mirror and complain that they aren’t pretty enough, not rich enough, not young enough. Carolyn gives her reflection the finger. Andrea Henry has appeared on Nickelodeon’s Search for America’s Funniest Mom, Last Comic Standing and The Great Canadian Laugh Off, and has participated in comedy fests across the country Limestone, Maine, Boston, Women in Comedy, Chicago Woman’s Funny Festival, Rogue Island and Memphis Urban Laughs. She’s written jokes for Us Weekly Magazine’s Fashion Police and is the co-author of Real Kids Jokes by Real Stand-Up Comics.

By sharing the blooper reel of his life and relationships on stage, he has captured the attention of comedy fans nationwide. He is known for drawing large crowds to legendary theaters and comedy clubs across the country simply by word of mouth from friends and fans who have seen him destroy audiences and want to share that experience. Jason Cordova is a Boston-based comedian with a lifelong love for stand-up. As a kid, he filled notebooks with jokes, and in 2009—after watching a few local shows and thinking, “I’m at least better than that”—he finally took the stage. One set was all it took. He was hooked. Since then, Jason has carved out his own lane in the Boston comedy scene, rising quickly with his hard-hitting, brutally honest humor that somehow brings everyone together by showing we’re not as different as we think Jason’s sharp, unfiltered style has earned him national attention, including an appearance on HBO’s Pause with Sam Jay. He has performed at top venues across the country, including Gotham Comedy Club, The Stand, The Comedy Connection, and Foxwoods Casino. He has opened for numerous national headliners and is widely regarded as a rising force on track to become a legend in his own right. Matthew P. Comedy Night at Slater’s with Steve Sweeney & Guests

Comedy Night at Slater’s featuring Steve Sweeney with special guest Howie Mason and host Jack Burke   Samuel Slater’s Hall │ Friday, March 13, 2026 │ Doors 6:30 PM / Show 7:30 PM   21+ Event / Valid ID Required │ This event is non-refundable   Dubbed by one admirer as “the undisputed King of Boston comedy,” Steve Sweeney doesn’t just perform in Boston—he is Boston. A true original of the Boston stand-up explosion, Sweeney came up alongside Lenny Clarke and Jay Leno at the legendary Ding Ho in the early 1970s—ground zero for a comedy movement that would shape the city’s voice for decades. He was among the first Boston comics to break into television with a starring role on Park Street Under, and went on to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and Late Show with David Letterman. In Boston, he became a household voice as a beloved morning radio host on WZLX 100.7 FM. Over a thirty-year career of stand-up tours, sitcom roles, film appearances, and radio, Sweeney’s comedy has traveled far. But no matter where he goes, it remains so thoroughly, unmistakably Bostonian that he almost deserves his own stop on the map.   Most of the “weird” things that happen to Howie Mason happen within the family unit. Those weird things and the family offer up a “nice mix of material” for his audience. Howie has brought his clever brand of humor to clubs and casinos all over the Northeast. Howie’s distinctive views on everyday topics such as marriage, parenthood and childhood have made him a crowd favorite all over New England.   A Boston-based comic, Jack Burke has rapidly emerged as a fresh voice of New England’s storied comedy circuit. He charms comics and audience members alike with his confessional style and irreverent takes on sobriety, intimacy, and family life. He is a staple of independently produced shows and clubs like the world renowned Laugh Boston and Nicks. Jack’s made terrible mistakes everywhere from Portland, ME to Jamaica that will make you laugh and feel grateful you’re not related to him.

A semi-finalist at the Boston Comedy Festival, she’s opened for national headliners and appeared on WCVB’s Chronicle. Each summer, the festival brings top comedic talent to Nantucket Island as the major fundraiser for Stand Up & Learn™, an island-based, year-round comedy education program serving Nantucket’s children. He is in the process of launching the Stand Up & Learn program nationally. As a longtime force on the New England comedy scene, PJ Thibodeau has established himself as one of the most consistent local acts around. His comfortable stage presence and engaging personality have allowed him to grow into the upper tiers of the Northeast as a performer audiences seek out. Originally cutting his teeth on the national college campus circuit, PJ began working across the country as an opener for some of the biggest headliners in comedy while he began headlining smaller venues himself. The experiences gained from being on the road for all of those years show in the fearlessness and confidence of his delivery and material. A New Englander through and through, Thibodeau now looks to connect with strangers as he delivers his stories and punchlines as only he can.   Matt Fanikos is a rising Boston Comedian. He started performing stand up after graduating from Roger Williams University. Since then, he became a semi-finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival and has performed throughout New England at clubs like Nick’s Comedy Stop, The Woohaha, The Comedy Attic, Empire Comedy Club, and Don’t Tell Comedy Shows.

Comedy Night with Christine Hurley & Guests

Comedy Night at Slater’s featuring Christine Hurley plus special guests Gary James and Ryan Gartley   Samuel Slater’s Hall │ Friday, October 18, 2024 │ Doors 6:30 PM / Show 7:30 PM   21+ Event / Valid ID Required   Christine Hurley loves what she does…making people laugh! Married to Jimmy Hurley and having five kids, Christine is never at a loss for comedic material. Like any great comedian, Christine has an innate ability to see humor in “everyday” situations. For years, she entertained family, friends and neighbors in their kitchens, at barbeques and the grocery store aisles. The only difference now is she uses a microphone and a stage.   Christine’s maiden voyage into the world of stand up comedy was an open audition in New York City. The television network Nick at Nite was looking for “AMERICA’S FUNNIEST MOM.” She figured if it didn’t go well, no one in New York would have known who she was anyway…   Turns out it went well! Out of thousands of entries, Christine was selected to be a finalist on the nationally televised show. The producers of the show included Carol Leifer (Seinfeld show producer), Jeff Singer (talent scout, Montreal Comedy Festival), Jeffrey Ross (Comedy Central roast master) and actress Sandra Bernhardt.   Gary James is on the horizon of a new comedy frontier. Named 2016 Best Comedian by Boston Magazine, this absurd realist takes his curiosity and applies it to the wide world of weird. Accomplishments: The Great American Comedy Festival, Best Comedian by Boston Magazine, 2016 Riot LA’s comics to watch. Petersen is blazing a trail of tomfoolery and now is the time to watch a hero rise from the ashes of comedy ruins.    With nearly 500 shows of experience, Ryan Gartley has performed everywhere from Las Vegas to Bangor. He was featured on the internationally syndicated Steve Katsos Show and was a semi-finalist in the Portland and Boston Comedy Festivals. His critical observations and dry humor have earned him opening spots for national headliners Lenny Clarke, Jeff Dunham, Steven Wright, and Dave Coulier.

Aquanett

Aquanett Samuel Slater’s Hall │ Saturday, September 28, 2024 │ Doors 7:30 PM / Show 8:00 PM   21+ Event / Valid ID Required While the Aquanett experience is anchored by the sound of the 80s metal bands like Bon Jovi and Whitesnake, don’t expect a run-of-the-mill club band that just sits in the corner. Quite the opposite- this is one of the most decadent and colorful tribute acts today. Imagine Hollywood…the Sunset Strip…when bands like Motley Crue and GnF ruled the world, This is the scene Aquanett re-creates night after night. With a complement of lights, special effects and costumes, the full production of an 80s rock concert is brought to life on stage. It is wild, flashy and full of the decadence that marked the 80s rock. It’s the sound, the clothes, and of course, the hair…but most of all, it’s pure fun. Seeing is believing, but you know that Aquanett is truly an experience, unlike anything you have seen before…or at least since 1991!
